The abbreviations come from the terms **finite element** / finite volume, i.e. a* finite-element* or *finite-volume model*. It is the creation of a mathematical virtual model of the given component via the method of discretization. Thanks to this method, we can convert the component’s geometry to a finite number of elements in the special software and thus simplify it.
