What is an FE/FV model?

The abbreviations come from the terms finite element / finite volume, i.e. a finite-element or finite-volume model. It is the creation of a mathematical virtual model of the given component via the method of discretization. Thanks to this method, we can convert the component’s geometry to a finite number of elements in the special software and thus simplify it.

On these elements, we can also simulate and evaluate various physical phenomena according to what we want to find out for the component in question. The process of creating such a model is sometimes also called networking.
